How Far is Sterling Ranch from Important Locations?

As a real estate agent who specializes in the Sterling Ranch community, one of the most common questions I get asked is about the proximity of Sterling Ranch to key places in the region. Sterling Ranch is located on the outskirts of the Denver metro area, which means it can be a bit of a drive depending on your destination. So, let me walk you through the distances and travel times from Sterling Ranch to some important locations you might frequently visit.

Downtown Denver

Whether you're commuting for work, leisure, or the vibrant city nightlife, Downtown Denver is approximately 22 miles northeast of Sterling Ranch. The drive typically takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic. During rush hour it can be upwards of 60 minutes. You can also utilize the nearby light rail station (Littleton/Mineral) for a more stress free commute.

Denver International Airport (DIA)

DIA is one of the largest airports in the world, with over 220 destinations. While getting there is a bit of a drive, it's an easy one. You can take 470 to E-470 or I-225 and arrive in about 45 minutes. 

The Denver Tech Center (DTC)

For those working in the DTC, you're looking at a commute of about 20 miles northeast. This journey typically takes 25 minutes, making it a manageable daily drive for professionals.

Lockheed Martin's Waterton Campus

Lockheed Martin is one of the largest employers and the area, and conveniently one of the quickest drives. Employees can rejoice with just a 5 to 10 minute drive to the Waterton Campus from Sterling Ranch. This proximity is a big plus for engineers and professionals in the aerospace and defense sectors.

I-70 Mountains

If outdoor recreation is your passion, the Rockies are your backyard. Destinations like Breckenridge, Vail, and Winter Park are around a 90-minute to 2-hour drive, offering world-class skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking.

Chatfield State Park

For a quick outdoor getaway, Chatfield State Park is just minutes away. It's perfect for everything from boating to hiking to horseback riding.

The Ken Caryl Sledding Hill

When winter arrives, and the snow is just right, the Ken Caryl Sledding Hill is a nearby spot for family fun. It's about a 20 minute drive up Wadsworth.

UC Health Highlands Ranch Hospital

In the event of an emergency, rest assured that our local hospital (located in Central Park of Highlands Ranch) is only a 10 to 15 minute drive away. We also have a UC Health urgent care and primary care facility in the Sterling Center, next to the Titan Road roundabout.

Grocery Stores

Just a short drive past Prospect Village on the west side of the community, you'll find the Roxborough shopping center, home to a small Safeway. It's incredibly convenient for those quick runs when you're missing an ingredient for dinner or need to stock up for the week.

For those who prefer shopping at King Soopers, there's a location in Highlands Ranch, roughly 10 minutes from Sterling Ranch.

And for an even broader selection, I personally recommend taking a 20-minute drive to Castle Rock, which has a new King Soopers Marketplace. In my opinion, it's one of the nicest and most modern King Soopers in Colorado.


In addition to convenient grocery shopping, Sterling Ranch is fortunate to be close to some great retail shopping. A mere 20-minute drive from our community is Park Meadows Mall, the largest shopping mall in Colorado. Even closer to home, Aspen Grove offers an open-air shopping experience perfect for shopping on those sunny Colorado days.

Right near Park Meadows, you'll also find many of our big-box stores---our IKEA store is just across the street, while REI is a few exits up I-25. For your bulk buying needs, both Costco and Sam's Club are conveniently located nearby.
