Costco proposes new location close to Sterling Ranch

The rumors are true! Costco is planning to develop a new location on Mineral Avenue in Littleton, just 13 minutes from Sterling Ranch.

If you are like me and end up doing bi-weekly Costco runs, this closer location will be a welcome change! Currently, Sterling Ranch is about 20 minutes away from the nearest locations in Lone Tree and Englewood. We also have a Sams Club in Highlands Ranch that is a similar driving distance away.

The new location will replace an aging office building that is currently owned by Lumen (formerly CenturyLink). The developer, Republic Investment Group, is planning to re-develop this area as a mix-used zone, to include both commercial and residential uses.

From their public filing, we know that the planned development features roughly 30 acres designated for a combination of commercial and retail spaces situated on the northern section of the property, near Mineral. Around 15 acres in the southern part of the property, positioned furthest from Mineral, are allocated for multi-family residential projects. The final 15 acres are reserved for flexible development, which could be turned into either commercial or residential spaces depending on market needs.

The details on the residential and retail portion of the project are currently not known in detail, but it looks like Costco will be taking up approximately half of the proposed commercial area.

Costco says that the new location will bring 250 to 300 jobs to the area, and will include a gas station, car wash, and tire center. Parking will be in abundance, with over 850 parking spaces (we all know how packed the Lone Tree location gets!).

The warehouse hours will be: Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm, Saturday from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm., and Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
